We are seeking one (1) experienced owl bander to conduct mist netting operations during the upcoming fall season. Approximately 500 Northern Saw-whet Owls are banded each season at the Linwood Springs Research Station in central Wisconsin. Responsibilities include mist net setup and monitoring, bird extractions, data collection and input. The applicant will be expected to assist with: Banding demonstrations to public groups and training university volunteers.
Applicants must: have previous mist netting experience, hold or be eligible for a Banding Permit, have their own vehicle, and be prepared to work from dusk to dawn each night (weather permitting).
The successful candidate will receive a stipend of $1200 for the entire season (September 20 through November 10) with housing and some meals included.
