VOLUNTEERS FOR BANDING AND MIGRATION MONITORING
at Thunder Cape Bird Observatory

3+ weeks; Spring: May 1 to June 15, 2015; Fall: August 1 to October 30, 2015
Thunder Cape Bird Observatory near Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, seeks volunteers for three week or longer terms, running from May 1 to June 15, 2015, and/or from August 1 to October 30, 2015. Volunteers will participate in daily banding and migration monitoring activities. Migration monitoring involves a daily 6 hour watch beginning at dawn. The banding protocols involve mist nets and other traps, and require skills in extracting and handling passerines, some hawks, and in the Fall, Northern Saw-whet Owls. Additional duties will include computer data entry, grounds keeping, housekeeping and cooking. Please consult our website for more information on the station.
Good assets include prior banding experience and familiarity with eastern North American species.
